Summer is approaching and vacation time as well. You need to choose a destination. For example, it would be nice to visit the castle of Hogwarts, where Harry Potter is set, or the city of emmerdale, where the series of the same name has been set for 26 years. Yes, a recent survey indicates that a large number of Britons have tried to plan trips to imaginary places.
70% of adult respondents confuse imaginary places that have a backdrop in movies and TV shows, with perfectly real places. One third tried to book holidays in these imaginary places, all located in England.
1. Emmerdale (setting of the soap opera Emmerdale)
2. Albert Square (setting of the soap opera EastEnders)
3. Downton (setting for the TV show Downton Abbey)
4. Weatherfield (setting of the soap opera Coronation Street)
5. Midsomer (setting of the TV series Midsomer Murders)
6. Craggy Island (the setting for TV series Father Ted)
7. Hogwarts (the setting for the Harry Potter books and movies)
8. Hollyoaks (setting of the soap opera Hollyoaks)
9. Dibley (the setting for TV series The Vicar of Dibley)
10. Meryton (setting of Pride and Prejudice)
Hotel.com holders, which commissioned the survey, commented: "it would be nice, with lots of beautiful places that really exist, if the British took up a guide or a map when it comes to planning a vacation, instead of turning on the TV ... "
