Verona: a tour of the city. First Part

Not only romance and operas, Verona is much more.
As early as 2000, UNESCO included it among the World Heritage Cities, a very well deserved acknowledgement for a city that hosts, in a few square kilometers, history and beauties that are way too often underestimated.
How not to start our tour from Piazza Brà, a sea of architectonic works that can not but leave its first time visitors breathless. From here we can admire and visit the Arena, build in the first century after Christ using the marble extracted from the quarries of the province and still fully functional so as to accommodate more than 600,000 spectators each year during what is the world's most important opera season.

Let's continue then with Piazza Erbe, for several years  the hub of social and economic life of the city. A set of styles different in type and age but wonderfully balanced. In short, one of the finest squares in Italy.

A must stop is also the famous Juliet's house, where you can visit the balcony from where she secretly talked with her Romeo. And don't forget to give a rub to the right breast of the statue! It is said to bring luck in love and not only…
And why not, a stop at Romeo's house can only get you involved even more in the romantic city.

Another mandatory one is Ponte Pietra (lit: Stone Bridge), build in the first century BC to replace an earlier wooden bridge, it is thus the most ancient Roman monument in Verona and a vantage point for an overview on the river Adige.

Next week we'll take you to get to know other unmissable places in the beautiful Verona, that’s not far from Hotel Montemezzi!

A "Kiss Mob" for Valentine's Day in Verona

They've been well talked about in the recent years. If you have not partecipated, surely you've heard of them at least once at the news. We are talking about one of the methods. We are taking about one of the most fashionable methods to meet and express one's creativity in this period: the Flash Mob.

This word means a sudden and rapid performance of a large number of people who enact public spaces in an unusual action for a short period of time.
Perhaps it's because one can partecipate with everyone else in something that breaks the normal routine, maybe because they are organized by word of mouth, which is spread on the web through blogs, forums and social networks, in fact flash mob managed to clear through customs perfromance that were once made only be small groups of artists, to the amusement of all.
Among the most copied, and most organized, performances there are for example the pillow battle, or the freeze, in which everyone remain on hold for several minutes, and the group kiss.

If for example you wanted to participate with your sweetheart to a group kiss what would be the day and the city where you would like to do? It would probably be Valentine's Day in Verona.... or so the organizers of VeronaInLove thought, planning an event for those who want to celebrate Valentine's Day in a special way in one of the most romantic cities in Italy.
Un Cuore di Baci (literally: "a heart of kisses"), is an event internal to the VeronaInLove experience, in which all of the couples were invited via web to appear on the impressive staircase of Palazzo Barbieri, illuminated in red, to seal their love with a over-a-minute kiss.
Don't you want to show everyone how much you love each other in a fun and a little different than usual way?
