Perhaps you already heard about Banksy, the genius of street art who attracted worldwide attention for his extraordinary works.
Well, the Art Series Hotel, a hotel chain, has launched a challenge to their customers from a hotel in Melbourne, Australia: "Here at the hotel we have two works by Banksy in display: 'No Ball Games' and 'Pulp Fiction', if you can steal them and leave the hotel unnoticed, you can take them home with you!".
Taking advantage of the notoriety of the artist, the hotel chain has generated a major word of mouth.
Of course the works of Banksy were tempting for many people, who put in place curious tricks in the attempt of doing a memorable bank(sy) job. Read here:
• Re-wiring the internal security cameras so thieves wouldn't be noticed
• Distracting the security reporting broken furniture and fittings in the roooms
• Scantily clad women distracting the staff
• A man with a long broom attempted to unhinge the painting and run away
• A few brazen hit and run attempts
• Some imposters pretending they were hotel staff
• Another imposter pretending he was a tradesman
• A “Bonnie and Clyde” post-modern attempt by two people who Twittered their every move
• Even tennis super star Serena Williams recently gave it a crack
Conclusion: "No Ball Games" has been "legally" stolen. "Pulp Fiction" has been moved for safety reasons to another hotel of the chain. The masterpiece will be given to Crime Stoppers (an association of people who report crimes that they have witnessed) and auctioned.
